The Latino Cancer Collaborative of Contra Costa is a public private partnership dedicated to eliminating cancer inequities for Latinos in Contra Costa County by reducing late detection of cancer through community outreach and education and building and enhancing a culturally and linguistically competent continuum of care that provides advocacy, education and support for Latinos diagnosed with cancer in Contra Costa County.
Early cancer detection and access to treatment is critical to saving lives. Many Latinos "fall through the cracks" of the health care system due to barriers including language and communication problems, fear and mistrust of the system, lack of access to or knowledge of affordable health insurance, cultural beliefs and stigmas related to cancer and logistical problems such as transportation. LC4 is committed to overcoming these barriers.
